PDO Thread Lift
A PDO thread lift is a temporary procedure that uses a dissolvable suture to tighten and lift the skin on the face and neck. It can also be used to lift areas of the body, such as the buttocks. The lift typically lasts six months, after which the threads dissolve.
What is a PDO thread lift?
A PDO thread lift involves using a biodegradable polyester suture (or ‘thread’) beneath the skin to create a natural tightening that reduces sagging skin on the forehead, cheeks, jowls, jawline and neck. It is a minimally invasive, temporary alternative to a face lift that doesn’t include excessive downtime.
This treatment not only lifts the face and neck but also helps to keep skin looking plumper, smoother and more radiant in the long term by stimulating the network of supportive collagen fibres within the skin.
The procedure can also be used to tighten sagging skin on the body, namely the stomach, buttocks, back, inner thighs and upper arms. They can also be used to treat cellulite and stretch marks.
How does a PDO thread lift work?
Typically, a PDO thread lift involves just a single thread each side of your face, neck or body, but can involve more depending on desired effect and treatment area.
Local anesthetic is used to make the procedure as pain-free as possible. During the procedure, threads are introduced to the skin with a needle or cannula which is removed once the threads have been positioned in the optimum place; with the desired amount of lift and repositioning, threads are trimmed to below the level of the skin so they are no longer visible, by sight or by touch.
