Micro and Nanofat Grafting
Micro and nanofat grafting (also known as nanofat injections) are extremely effective, ‘high-end’ anti-ageing procedures that involve ‘natural’ stem cell filler harvested from the body and injected into the face (and other areas) to plump and smooth skin.
What is Micro and Nanofat Grafting?
An effective anti-ageing procedure, micro and nanofat grafting involves a stem cell transfer procedure that smooths wrinkles, plumps skin and rejuvenates the complexion. Stem cells (derived from fat) are taken from areas of the patient’s body and reinjected into areas of concern. Results can last up to three years.
While micro and nanofat injections are typically used on the face, they can actually be injected all over the body to fill out thinning skin, scarring or fine lines and wrinkles.
Face: eye contours, bags and dark circles; fine lines around the nose and mouth
Hands: crepey, thinning skin on the hands
Neck and chest: crepey, thinning skin on the chest; wrinkles on the neck
Body: stretch marks on the buttocks, thighs and breasts
Microfat and nanofat are used in different areas to plump skin and add volume; speaking to your doctor will help you determine which is best for your needs.
How Does Micro and Nanofat Grafting Work
Through incredibly innovative and high end techniques to retrieve them, stem cells are at the heart of micro and nanofat grafting. The treatment begins with a small amount of fat being taken for a patient’s body – typically areas with a little extra ‘cushioning’ like the thighs or tummy. This fat is then filtered to separate the stem-cell rich fat from other fluids; this fat is then crushed to create a smooth, liquid concentration.
This liquid concentration is then reinjected into areas of the face and body that the patient wants to plump, smooth and rejuvenate using an ultra-thin needle. That this needle is so thin allows even the tiniest of areas to be targeted, creating results that look incredibly natural.
Who Can Benefit From Micro and Nanofat Grafting?
Micro and nanofat grafting is a fantastic option for anyone looking for a reasonably non-invasive anti-ageing treatment designed to leave the face and body looking smoother, plumper and more youthful. It’s also an excellent choice for those wanting a natural alternative to other fillers or anti-ageing injectables.
In order for micro and nanofat grafting to be successful, patients need to have enough fat available to make the transfer with. However, most patients will qualify for this as just a few millilitres are needed for small areas, with up to 30–40 ml needed to treat the whole face.
